PPE and Placarding Training
This course takes a critical look at structural fire-fighting PPE and Energy hazard PPE. The protections offered by Fire and Energy PPE are very similar and yet most fire fighters do not understand how they actually work. In 2017 I traveled to Kinectrics Laboratory in Canada to have my PPE Arc Flash rated and to better understand the thermal performance of our gear. Learning how our gear works and how to read an Arc Flash label can help our crews anticipate many of the energy hazards they face. The following topics are covered in this course:
